Veronica Wilkins (Roni)

I attended Buckinghamshire College of Art in the 1960's. I had a career in Sales & Marketing but now paint as a fairly full-time occupation.
My paintings are signed by a more 'recognisable' Roni.
I paint in all mediums although the larger still life's are usually Acrylic or Oil. These works are carefully constructed with a strong accent on composition and colour. Seascapes and landscapes are painted initially al fresco mainly in a water-based medium. These are painted without thought of design or plan at first in an attempt to capture a sense of place. An element of risk is involved which allows for a lively interpretation which can result in a magical area - the difficulty comes in recognising these gems and preserving them.
Sometimes a sketch begun outside needs nothing added and is 'resolved': usually sketches are the 'gathered information' which is then used to create larger works in the studio.
I am a member of various societies and exhibit both at a local level and in main exhibitions.
