Sue Fawthrop

Sue lives on the Chiltern Ridge, surrounded by inspiring landscape which she interprets in watercolour and oil. She is interested in the intensity and quality of light and atmospheric conditions which help to create mood in paintings. These paintings are then interpreted as larger paintings in the studio.
She uses glazing and scumbling techniques to intensify the colours and often combines and reinvents the original source material.
Sue regularly visits North Dorset to draw and paint from more open countryside with a particular interest in the signs of man's occupation over the centuries. Sue is a member of Bucks Art Society, Berkhamsted Art Society, Penn Street Painters and West Wycombe Art Group where for two years she has enjoyed making colourful portraits of the weekly sitters. She exhibits with the group and also at the Mall Galleries with the AFAS.
