Julia Johnson

Julia Johnson

My paintings are mainly of ‘soft’ subjects leaning towards flowers, toys and the nicer things in life.

'I love being able to sit in front of a beautiful bunch of flowers and take my time in creating a painting that pleases me. I also enjoy landscapes and portraits when the opportunity arises'

As my style is sensitive to the subject matter I tend to use mainly watercolour which I feel reflects the subtleness of colour but can be vibrant and demonstrative in paintings that require stronger contrast.

For toy paintings soft pastel can give a very gentle feel to the finished work. I use this medium when I want to demonstrate the variance in textures between hard and soft materials and to create certain ambiance.

I exhibit regularly and have some very loyal customers who specifically look for my work. It’s this along with the pleasure of putting on a decent show that keeps me motivated.

Commissions welcome
